Dilana Workshop is an artisan rug-making company that has been producing unique rugs for over thirty years. Based in Christchurch and using 100% New Zealand wool, this local business has established an international reputation through collaborating with renowned New Zealand artists.
The outstanding craftsmanship and art-driven design principles that go into creating their textile works challenge the notion of a rug being an every day object. Dilana rugs are known and sought after world-wide as exceptional artworks expressed through the textile medium. Recipients include Pope John Paul II, the late Rajiv Gandhi, HRH Prince Andrew and the Duchess of York, President Bill Clinton and the President of Turkey ... to Bilbo Bagins house in Lord of the Rings.
The Dilana gallery will be open late for First Thursdays - pop down and visit them at 102 Buchan St. There will be an exhibition of works as well as the opportunity to learn about the rug-making process from one of their artists.
