We are really excited to work with both emerging and established artists as part of First Thursdays. Having an opportunity to showcase work by up and coming, talented artists is one of the key aims of this event. With this in mind, we are thrilled to be showing a large scale, work created by Aggie Palmer. A space in The Colombo will be given over as a colouring in mural for a couple of weeks in the lead up to our event. People of all ages (and heights!) will be invited to take a break and colour in a stunning artwork specifically illustrated for First Thursdays.
Aggie Palmer is currently studying Applied Visual Arts part time at Christchurch Polytechnic Institute of Technology (CPIT), she is also undertaking a tattoo apprenticeship, working at Steve Johnson's City of Ink. Her stunningly detailed and elegant yet often whimsical work is swiftly gaining fans from both the art and tattoo communities.
Channeling her love for Japanese art and mythology, she has translated the story of the Demon's Night Parade into the theme of 'Welcome to the Jungle'. A cavalcade of animals assemble into a playful narrative which people of all ages are invited to colour in!

Many thanks to Spotlight for supplying the colouring in pencils for this project and to CPIT for their help in the making and installing of the work!
