Clare Logan is an artist living and working in Christchurch. Her studio practice incorporates a range of mediums with a predominant focus on painting and drawing. Through her work she explores themes around the human relationship to landscape, and associated inherent tensions. Memory, unreality, and modes of perception are central themes in her work.
For the upcoming First Thursdays Clare is making a video projection work. It will serve as a visual reflection on engagement with the physical landscape, following a series of her own movements through areas of the landscape of Canterbury.
The work aims to explore the place landscape holds in collective cultural memory, alongside the intimacy of an individual physical foray through it. By staging a number of specific personal interactions with land, she seeks to investigate human beings' relationships with landscapes and the shifting nature of modes of engagement.
This work promises to be immersive and seductive; inviting contemplation of the cultural and individual engagement with landscapes. Join us to see this work inside, next door to Admire Interiors, on the corner of Durham and Battersea St.
