Join Dr.Sketchy's Anti Art-School for a taste of Christchurch's infamous drawing club! Rosie Reckless and Tawdry Trainwreck will host a quickfire hour of poses at Admire Interiors.
Dr. Sketchy's Anti Art-School began in New York in 2005 and has spread to over 100 cities around the world. The brainchild of Molly Crabapple; an artist and art-school drop out who founded the event after finding life drawing classes far too dull and obectifying. Dr.Sketchy's brings together life drawing, drinking and burlesque to create a engaging, absurd and highly entertaining event which encourages people of all abilities to put pen to paper and have a good time doing it.
With prizes, novelty drawing challenges and ludicrous poses aplenty; this is an interactive drawing class like no other.
The Christchurch branch has been going strong for nearly 5 years; presenting a regular audience with emerging and established burlesque performers from around the country. With themes ranging from retro sci-fi, odes to Dolly Parton, to (un)dressage clubs and whisky fuelled bibliophiles, you are bound to be suprised and titillated.
This time around art materials are supplied, but feel free to bring your own (no charcoal or wet media please).
The Sketchy girls will be posing using props and furniture kindly supplied by Admire Interiors - leaders in commercial interior design and fit outs. They specialise in hospitality, commercial and residential sites and have been operating since 1986. The team have a comprehensive understanding of soft furnishings, curtains, drapes and blinds as well as fittings and equipment. Make sure to stop by for a tipple and say hi to the team on the night!
